The Vista Experience
April 29, 2008 — JayeshThe desktop which I use, crashed 3 days back, thats one of the reasons of me not being online, that and the huge blown -out-of-proportion fights between me and my cousin, anyhoo, I managed to install Ubuntu yesterday, sure it looks good, and sure it’s a charmer, but I am not really very good with going into terminal’s and changing settings from ‘root’ I couldn’t install Sify’s client on it either, overall, a bad experience, which just means that Linux is not yet there for Humans.
Yesterday evening, I got Vista for a 1GB/160GB+250GB/6300 @1.56GHz X Dual Processors, the Ulimate version, though my graphic/video card doesn’t support the ‘cool’ Aero features, I am quite happy and satisfied with Windows Vista, it’s way cleaner (I’m not saying better) then any previous versions of Windows, sure it resembles OS X a bit too much, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good :)
I haven’t yet updated Vista with SP1, as I had other important utilities and applications to download >.<
Now, I think I’ll stick to Vista, till I get my new iMac/Macbook Pro :\

I just think the way people judge Linux is based on past experience and a strange stubbornness to learn.
For one thing, Ubuntu (7.04 onwards) doesn’t need the terminal unless you need to fiddle around with the kernel/OS core itself. Even when you’re programming it doesn’t need you to go into the terminal now a days. Just a day or two and some googling around and you’re bound to discover a very cool and easy to use OS. As for the Sify client is concerned, maybe now that you have the net (:P), you can look for better alternatives. Or get wine and install it using wine. (8.04 has wine preinstalled)
Just give it a try sometime.

Oh and btw notice how your ram usage is 73% even when you have 2 apps running actively. :P
Thats wow for you (minus aero too).

I kinda agree with you, nobody really wants to learn, and plus everyone remembers those days when you had to type everything during a Linux session, though it was the same for windows. But not many people have used Windows 3.1 or anything before then 95′
Sify’s client wasn’t available, making me stay offline for the whole day, thus I couldn’t Google anything ;(
Anyway, I have the live cd, I’ll definitely give it a try sometime.
As for the 73% usage of my RAM, iTunes takes most of it, because its VERY heavy XD
Appreciate your comment anyway :P

You use a Macbook Air and an iMac, right?

I think I might give Fedora a try when I get my hands on a new PC.
Though Ubuntu 8.04 simply pwns man! And yes, people are way too stubborn to use anything else. They forget that they had to learn a bit about Windows too the first time they got hands on ‘98, ofcourse every next Windows OS was a piece of cake.

And Jay.
Forget just iTunes. Everything that starts with an ‘i’ branding sucks. Excluding Iron Maiden that is. XD And many other things. :P

Ah, Falak, I guess thats your opinion, as far as I go, I would rather run Windows on my machine then Linux, and I would rather use OS X, instead of Windows.
